The Cymbria Lions Club held our Year End Dinner at By-The-Bay Restaurant in North Rustico, Saturday July 5th, 2008.
A great evening was had by all.
We were joined by invited Guests including Council Chair of the whole Multiple District N, & Past District Governor Tim Hoban & His Wife the lovely Lion Betty. We were also joined by a former Cymbria Charter Member ...Wayne Doucette, now living in Toronto & still an active member of the Toronto Center Lions Club. His Brother Billy, also a former Cymbria Lions Member rounded out the Guests. All Lions & Wives & Lionettes & Husbands were invited, with only a few having to express regrets with other commitments.
We had a great turnout of about 50.
The evening opened with the Lions Prayer, led by CC Tim. Past President Norman gave a warm greeting welcome to all. CC Tim led the Toast & Lion Betty led “Grace”.
While Dinner was being prepared, Lion Norman ran over a month-by-month highlight of our past years Projects & Donations. Treasurer Denis read out the donation, medical donation & special donations made for the year...nearly record numbers. A great year by anyone's standards & a BIG Thank You goes out to our communities who support us.
Lion Norm presented a Number of Appreciation Certificates & CC Tim to all of the past committee chairs who go about there work responsibly & continue this work, year after year.
A very Special presentation was made on behalf of the Lions to The Cymbria Lionettes for all the service that they do directly to the community & also for helping us get though our functions. Great Job Ladies !! Hope that we can count on you all (18 members) to continue.
Special plaques were given out to the executive for being President, Secretary & Treasurer, for 2007-2008.
The Gavel & Gong were handed over from Past President Lion Norman to new King Lion Garry.
The final award of the night, chosen by the members in a secret ballot was for "Lion of The Year." This year’s recipient was Past President, Lion Norman Coffin.
